Sunday, August 9: Jeremy Piven arrives to announce this week's luxury competition to the houseguests.  The HGs are divided into two teams -- Jeff, Kevin, Lydia, & Michele vs. Jessie, Natalie, Russell, & Jordan.  Jessie's team wins the competition and get to have a special screening of Jeremy Piven's new movie, The Goods.  The other team became the Have-Nots for the week.

In the America's Vote segment, America gets to choose which extra food items the Have-Nots will be eating.  The choices are: Jalapeno Peppers & Pepperoni, Squeeze Cheese & Kimchi, or Sweet Pickles & Anchovies.

At the nomination ceremony, Chima nominates Russell and Lydia for eviction.  In spite of Russell's apologies to her for their recent confrontations with each other, Chima still felt that she could not trust him.  Lydia was put up alongside Russell in order to reduce her chances of being able to vote to keep him in the house.

Tuesday, August 11: Russell's nomination by Chima makes him realize that his alliance with Jessie, Natalie, and Chima is over -- as if the huge screaming match in the house just a few days before didn't tell him that.  Meanwhile, Lydia is still worried that, although she realizes that Russell is the true target, she is still in danger of going home.  Russell goes to work on Jeff to firm up the relationship they began when Russell was HOH.  Jeff agrees to take Russell off the block if he wins POV and privately thinks he might use his power of Coup d'Etat to remove Russell from the block at the nomination ceremony if all else fails.

Russell tries to repair his relationship with Michele, but only succeeds in reigniting the argument when Michele keeps denying that she told him that Chima wanted to backdoor him.  When Russell keeps pressing the point, Michele gets upset and goes right up to Chima's HOH room, where Chima and Natalie are hanging out, to vent against him.  Chima repeats a point she made in an earlier episode by saying that the girls should team up against the guys.

At the veto competition, Natalie is chosen, while Russell and Lydia both get house guest's choice.  Russell picks Jeff, sending a clear signal to Jessie that the alliance is over, and potentially exposing his alliance with Jeff.  Lydia picks her "Sugar Bear," Kevin.  Michele is chosen by Chima to be the host.  Kevin wins the "BB Farms" competition, which involves inching twelve eggs up a chicken wire fence from the opposite side, one at a time, and putting them in their placeholders.  While Lydia is happy that Kevin won the veto, Kevin says he isn't sure he will use the veto on her because she isn't the true target, and it would only create enemies for him.

After losing the veto, Russell goes back to work on Jessie, saying that Russell is Jessie's only hope to make it to the finals.  Further, Russell tries to convince Jessie to somehow influence things to get Jeff on the block, betraying his alliance to Jeff.  However, Jessie is still upset that Russell didn't pick him for the veto, which leaves Jessie vulnerable to be put up as a replacement nominee either by someone using the veto or by the mystery power being used.  Later, Jessie tells Jeff that Russell suggested that Jeff be put on the block in case Jeff has the mystery power and was considering using it to save Russell.  Jessie then goes to Jordan and says likewise, but Jordan doesn't trust Jessie.

Later, another argument breaks out between Chima and Russell, which involves Chima calling Russell a "terrorist" because she feels Russell has been terrorizing the house.  However, Russell, who is of Arab background, says that Chima has made a racist comment and is a hypocrite because she previously called out Braden on his comments that Chima found to be racist.

At the veto meeting, Kevin decides not to use the veto on anyone, keeping a target off his back where Chima is concerned, but putting a strain on his friendship with Lydia.

Thursday, August 13 (DAY 40): Following the veto meeting where Kevin did not use the power of veto, Jessie is the one who seems the most worried.  Jessie and Natalie suspect that Jeff or Jordan have the mystery power and try to spend some time with them, but Jordan is suspicious.  Russell tries to work on Jessie for his vote, but Jessie is still upset that Russell did not pick him for the veto competition.  Later, when Russell tries to get Michelle on his side, Jessie breaks in on their conversation and reminds Michele of the argument she had with Russell just days earlier.

In a later conversation with Jessie, Chima, who feels "99.9% sure" that Jeff has the mystery power, says that if Jeff were to use it, there would be "drama."

At the "live" eviction (actually taped most likely due to Chima's continued threats that she would say something FCC-fineworthy on air), Julie asks whether the house guest with the mystery power would like to stand up and use it.  With that, Jeff stands up and Julie confirms that Jeff is indeed the holder of the power.  She explains to the HGs that the power is called the "Coup d'Etat," and that it allows Jeff to overthrow Chima and change one or both of her nominees.  However, neither Chima as HOH nor Kevin as POV winner can be put up as a replacement nominee.  Further, it is revealed here for the first time, that since Chima is no longer technically the HOH, both she and Jeff are eligible to compete in this night's HOH competition.

Jeff removes Lydia from the block and replaces her with Natalie.  Jeff then removes Russell from the block and replaces him with Jessie.  Julie then tells the house guests that both Chima and Jeff will not be participating in the actual eviction vote.  Clearly shaken, both Natalie and Jessie plead their cases to the other house guests.  The eviction vote then begins, and votes to evict Natalile come from Lydia and Russell.  Jordan, Kevin, and Michele all vote to evict Jessie.  Therefore, Jessie is evicted from the Big Brother house by a vote of 3 to 2.

At the Head of Household competition, entitled "Hit the Road," the HGs face off in pairs at a podium and answer questions regarding the competition thus far.  After several rounds, Michele is the last one standing and wins her first Head of Household competition.  Although Michele has had conversations with Natalie and Chima and have formed an unofficial "girl's club," this grouping doesn't seem to be a rock-solid alliance.  However, our guesses for her targets would include Russell.  Therefore, Jeff is also in the line of fire.  We wouldn't be surprised to see Michele nominate Russell and Jeff, but failing that, we could see her nominating Jeff and Jordan with the ultimate plan being to backdoor Russell.

At the close of the show, Julie reveals to the audience that next Thursday will be a live double eviction episode.
